As Country Director, I lead our work in UK-Hungary cultural relations and international educational opportunities. I joined British Council in April 2019, prior to which I worked in international policy and programmes. My academic background is in politics and international relations, and I did my PhD at the University of Vienna. As an academic tutor, I mentored students and helped them prepare for courses of study at universities in the UK and in other countries.
I am responsible for the English Language programmes in our Teaching Centre in Budapest and I also support our Teaching operations in Bratislava and Prague. I am originally from the UK and my career with the British Council has taken me to many countries in the Middle East and in Asia. I returned to Europe to work in Portugal before arriving in Hungary in 2016. I am really enjoying living and working Budapest and getting to know Hungary.
I graduated as an English major from ELTE University in 2004. The same year, I joined the Exams team at British Council Hungary, where I was placed in charge of IELTS, University, and Professional exams. In 2019, I became the manager of the Exams Department and set as my main goal to assist learners of English of all ages in achieving their educational goals in Hungary and abroad by organising for them a variety of language examinations and issuing internationally recognised certificates.
I am responsible for the Education & Society programme and the Arts amplification activities in Hungary. I studied Culture Management and Sociology. It motivates me to contribute to a more open and inclusive society by creating inspiring cultural relations and working on educational opportunities for all.
I joined the British Council in 1990 after completing my Applied Science education in the USA and working for some years in the field of data processing, finance, and office management in Hungary. I was involved in drafting the agreement on the operation of cultural centres between Hungary and the UK, which is still valid today. My current role covers Risk and Compliance with some specific finance, audit and treasury tasks in the European Union Region of British Council.
