British higher education is available from Hungary

A lot of people would like to get a UK higher education, but cannot travel to the UK and attend courses there. For them, the British Council provides the unique service by organising unviersity exams without having to leave the country.

WE WILL MAKE ALL THE NECESSARY ARRANGEMENTS FOR THE LOCAL DELIVERY OF YOUR EXAM, INCLUDING:

  • compliance with the regulations of each university, educational institution or professional organisation
  • arrangement of a suitable venue with appropriate facilities
  • receipt of your exam materials and their secure storage
  • dispatch of scripts via a reputable international courier to ensure safe and traceable delivery.

Special arrangements for the University of London

Step 1

You will need to register with the University of London for the examination session. After you have registered, you will be able to download an application form from the portal. Fill it in electronically and send a copy of your exam entry form to information@britishcouncil.hu. Make sure you make a copy for your own records. You will receive a validation code from us. Finally, you will be able to complete the online entry task by logging on to the University portal by entering your validation code, making your entry and paying the University’s examination entry fee.

Step 2

Information about the venue and time of the exam will be sent to candidates by email approximately two weeks before the test date. You will also be notified about the fee you will need to pay for exam administration and the deadline to transfer the fee to the British Council bank account (see bank details below).

Disclaimer

The British Council and the examining boards take all reasonable steps to provide continuity of service. Therefore, please understand that we cannot be held responsible for any interruptions caused by circumstances beyond our control. If examinations or their results are disrupted, cancelled or delayed, every effort will be made to resume normal service as soon as possible. The British Council’s liability will be limited to the refund of the registration fee or retesting at a later date.

Registration

Get in touch with your education institution at least one month before your exam and register your exam directly with them. Contact us after they have confirmed your registration.

Fees

The following administration fees are valid between 1 Jan  and 31 December 2023.

Our administration fees do not include costs charged by the exam board. Please get in touch with the exam board to discuss their costs.  

The administration fee is due ten days before the first exam.

Invoicing

Please note that we are unable to issue an invoice after the payment of an exam fee has been made. To receive an invoice, please contact us.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

  • Please make sure you indicate your name, the date and name of your exam (e.g. ACCA 22 August 2014).
  • Please send us the bank transfer receipt with the rest of your registration documents to information@britishcouncil.hu, once you have made the payment.
  • Please contact us, in case you haven't received an acknowledging e-mail (which can happen with Freemail or Citromail e-mail accounts).
  • It's not possible to pay by cash. Cash payments can only be received from the Citibank branch below: 1133 Budapest, Váci street 80. (Promenade Gardens Irodaház at Dózsa György út metro station).
  • Please ensure that the British Council receives the full amount, all applicable banking charges have to be borne by the transferor.

Cancellation policy

100 % refund

If you cancel your registration 5 working days before your exam, you are entitled to a 100% refund of the exam fee. Please send your cancellation mail to information@britishcouncil.hu.

75 % refund

If you cancel your registration less than 5 working days before your exam (even if you registered less than 5 weeks before the test date), you are entitled to a 75% refund of the registration fee only if the request is made due to:

  • the candidate’s serious illness (e.g. hospital admission)
  • the death of a close family member
  • hardship/trauma, e.g. a traffic accident
  • military service.

No refund

Candidates who cancelled their registrations less than 5 working days before the test date are not entitled to a refund if:

  • the cause is different from those listed above
  • the application is not accompanied by appropriate official documentation and/or evidence
  • the application is made later than 5 working days after the test date.
