Special arrangements for the University of London

Long distance learners can sit their University of London exams with the British Council and complete their degrees without leaving Hungary.

Follow these steps to complete your registration:

Step 1

You will need to register with the University of London for the examination session. After you have registered, you will be able to download an application form from the portal. Fill it in electronically and send a copy of your exam entry form to information@britishcouncil.hu. Make sure you make a copy for your own records. You will receive a validation code from us. Finally, you will be able to complete the online entry task by logging on to the University portal by entering your validation code, making your entry and paying the University’s examination entry fee.

Step 2

Information about the venue and time of the exam will be sent to candidates by email approximately two weeks before the test date.

You will also be notified about the fee you will need to pay for exam administration and the deadline to transfer the fee to the British Council bank account (see bank details below).

Admission Tests for UK Universities

The type of admissions test you should take depends predominantly on the course you choose to study, and the university you choose to study at.

The exams are subject-specific tests taken by applicants for Medicine, Philosophy, Politics, Economics, Law, Mathematics and other related courses.

BMAT

BioMedical Admissions Test is a subject-specific admissions test for applicants to medicine, veterinary medicine and similar courses at universities.

ELAT

English Literature Admissions Test is a pre-interview admissions test for applicants to English undergraduate courses at the University of Oxford.

HAT

The HAT is a subject-specific admissions test for applicants to the University of Oxford’s undergraduate degree courses in History.

MAT

The MAT is a subject-specific admissions test for applicants to the University of Oxford’s undergraduate degree courses in Mathematics and Computer Science.

STEP

Sixth Term Examination Paper Mathematics is a well-established mathematics examination designed to test candidates on questions that are similar in style to undergraduate mathematics.

TSA

Thinking Skills Assessment as an admissions test, to help them select candidates for courses where critical thinking and problem-solving skills are essential.

PAT

The Physics Aptitude Test is a paper-based test. It is a 2-hour, subject-specific admissions test for applicants to all University of Oxford Engineering, Materials Science and Physics undergraduate degree courses.

 

Disclaimer

The British Council and the examining boards take all reasonable steps to provide continuity of service. Therefore, please understand that we cannot be held responsible for any interruptions caused by circumstances beyond our control. If examinations or their results are disrupted, cancelled or delayed, every effort will be made to resume normal service as soon as possible. The British Council’s liability will be limited to the refund of the registration fee or retesting at a later date.

How do you register?

It’s easy to register for your university exams. 

  1. First, get in touch with your education institution and register your exam directly with them. 
  2. Once your exam place has been confirmed you should contact us.
  3. You need to do this at least one month before your exam.

Fees

Fees of the admission examinations are valid between 15/05/2018 and 31/03/2019.

Our fees do not include costs charged by the exam board. Please get in touch with the exam board to discuss their costs.

Deadline for payment: no later than 10 days before the (first) exam date.

Please note that we are unable to issue an invoice after the payment of an exam fee has been made. To receive an invoice, please contact us.

When paying the exam fee by bank transfer, please ensure that the British Council receives the full amount, all applicable banking charges have to be borne by the transferor. This is particularly important when transferring the exam fee from abroad. Your registration can only be finalised after the full exam fee has arrived into our bank account. Once you have made the payment, please send us the bank transfer receipt with the rest of your registration documents to information@britishcouncil.hu

 

IMPORTANT: It's not possible to pay by cash.

Cancellation policy

100% REFUND

If you cancel your registration 5 working days before your exam, you are entitled to a 100% refund of the exam fee. Please send your cancellation mail to information@britishcouncil.hu.

75% REFUND

If you cancel your registration less than 5 working days before your exam (even if you registered less than 5 weeks before the test date), you are entitled to a 75% refund of the registration fee only if the request is made due to:

•     the candidate’s serious illness (e.g. hospital admission)

•     the death of a close family member

•     hardship/trauma, e.g. a traffic accident

•     military service

 

NO REFUND

Candidates who cancelled their registrations less than 5 working days before the test date are not entitled to a refund if:

•     the cause is different from those listed above

•     the application is not accompanied by appropriate official documentation and/or evidence

•     the application is made later than 5 working days after the test date
